Vincent Bike hire and toursThe Tours
Our aim is to encourage experienced riders to visit us in small groups, the minimum being 2 and the maximum being 10 riders. We will then take the party through the machines and making them aware of each bike characteristics. Each day a pre arranged tour will be made and our guide will lead the party. The intention is to take some of the most charming and scenic roads in the country, making plenty of photo stops along with coffee and lunch breaks. The weather in the UK can be changeable and we know some people don’t like to ride in the rain. Our policy is we will travel as per itinerary, if you decide to opt out that’s fine, we have a MPV which can take party members to a place of interest instead. As far as mechanical faults are concerned, the bikes are services regularly with all major wearing parts such as clutches, cables, tyres carburettors and magnetos repaired or replaced. However if you have ever owned a classic bike you will understand that every now and again faults occur usually we can make roadside repairs but if the bike is not immediately serviceable there is a back-up vehicle with a spare machine, this bike will be discussed at the time of booking. As a company we have been arranging guided tours / holidays for over twenty years and we have put together several tour suggestions. We don’t intend the Vincent tours to be too strenuous for the rider or the bike and each day should be no more that 100 miles. If you are travelling to us from overseas we can help with flights and every one will be met at the airport and transported to the hotel and returned on the last day. Fuel for the bikes is also included in the final cost of the holiday unless otherwise stated. If you have friends wishing to ride with us on their own bikes, thats fine, we will work out a tour cost without hire for them.
Accommodation
We aim to plan with potential clients the tour of their dreams choosing accommodation that suite the destination as well as a budget. We have contacts with all major Hotel chains and have an in-depth knowledge of hundreds of private, charming hotels which would not normally be found by a mere search engine. All hotels are tried and tested so satisfaction is assured. We normally suggest including breakfast and evening meals but can make other arrangements should you wish. If you have an early return flight or are travelling from a long distance, overnight enroute or airport hotels reservations can be made on your behalf. The bikes will stay at the hotel as well as the guide who will be on hand to make suggestions for eating out or for night life etc.
Hire/rental
The hire of each bike will include the cost of full roadside breakdown cover and fully comprehensive riding insurance. Insurance in the UK is mandatory this covers you (the rider) against other road users, the bike against damage and other road uses against you. Unfortunately the bikes must carry an excess or deductible charge against repairs which must be carried out due to any damage incurred by rider error. This amount will be stated at the time of enquiry as it may change depending on choice of machine. This amount will be charged to a credit card before the tour commences and refunded to the same card upon safe return of the machine at the end of the tour. The bikes will be provided with fuel each day as part of the tour cost.
Extras
Discovery Bike Tours is associated with Discovery Travel, which is a family run company dealing with UK and overseas visitors and groups to Europe. We have a civil aviation authority licence and have a financial bond which is in place to protect you against financial failure. As a company we can provide numerous additional services to enhance any holiday proposals. Flights, car / new bike hire, additional hotel accommodation i.e. should you wish to spend a few extra days in London prior to returning home, Theatre and restaurant bookings. If you are a VOC or VMCC member we can look to see if there are any Rallies or meetings being held which may coincide with the trip and book the bikes into the rally. If you intend to bring your own machines from overseas to take part we can make enquiries for shipping and if you make any large purchases whilst in the UK we can arrange safe shipping for you.
Travel / Medical Insurance
As UK travel company we can offer travel / medical insurance only to UK citizens. It is important however to have insurance. We must insist on proof of insurance for any overseas clients.

 About Discovery Bike Tours

Discovery Bike tours is part of Discovery Travel Ltd. Formed in 1994 has successfully carried out group tours and holidays around the world. In 2003 we transferred our expert knowledge of European travel into Motorcycle tours.
We are avid motorcycle enthusiasts. We own and restore vintage machines and are track and road race fans. We have 20 years experience in European overland travel and has an impeccable reputation within the industry for his planning and dedication to customer satisfaction. Many of the hotels used on the bike tours are under contract with Discovery Travel, which means the rates are far lower than normal which keeps the overall holiday costs down.
Discovery Bike Tours arranges a limited number scheduled tours as well as this it arranges many private group holidays and rallies.
The pre arranged tours are generally based on B&B in 3* or 4* hotels in very good locations throughout Europe. Hotels are all hand picked and pre inspected and are chosen for their location and amenities. The tours are escorted, and if the groups are large have 2 guides, one for the front and one at the rear. A support van for luggage spares etc. is also an option that many appreciate. The days are split into achievable distances without making the day too long. Some times journey days which usually mean motorway riding, riders will be expected to ride up to 400miles. On most other days the average distance is 200 -250 miles. This can increase if the group wish to detour. Group sizes normally don’t exceed 10 riders which we feel a perfect number for a long distance tour. Riders are provided with all journey details and hotel information. A short briefing will take place each evening with the riders to make sure they understand what the next day involves and to find out how they found the previous ride.
Speed is always a huge issue and we understand that every one has a different concept as to what is a maintainable speed. We feel as though our guide sets a good average and, if you require to travel over or under the national speed limit you may find your self making your own way to the hotel. The guide does always attempt to keep all riders in sight and he will stop at every turn in the road where a deviation must be made until every rider is accounted for. Private groups are of course catered for if all machines are vintage or super bikes for example.
Discovery Travel is bonded for your financial protection and is regulated by the CAA which means flying is also an option. If you require to come from overseas to participate in a tour we can arrange motorcycle hire, make all of your flight arrangements etc.If you have a member of your party wishing to join you for part of the holiday and ride back or fly home as well. It must be made clear though, that Discovery Bike tours will endeavour to make all of the necessary reservations but detours will not be made by the main group of riders.
Discovery Bike Tours can and do arrange all kinds of tours. Moto GP, SBK, BSB and road race meetings as well as super bike, vintage and touring machine orientated tours. Our guides have a pre selected route which includes what we feel the very best roads for scenery, riding enjoyment and sometimes convenience. Some members of the party may have considerable experience in touring and may wish to deviate, others especially riders with limited experience may choose to ride with the guide. It is however essential that all riders understand the roads and study maps etc in case they should inadvertently be detached from the main group. If the tour is inorder to take in a race meeting, Discovery Bike tours can pre purchase all tickets at face value.
As well as being able to arrange flights Discovery Bike Tours has contracts with the major ferry companies and the Channel tunnel. Most of our tours begin from the North West of England we sometimes advise a crossing from Hull on the overnight P&O ferry. If you live further south and wish to join the group, alternate arrangements can be made from Dover to Calais and a separate route devised in order to join the group at the first night hotel. On most occasions though we simply start our tour together at which ever the port of disembarkation is.
